About Q Software

An independent studio, built on stubbornness.

We are three people in Toronto who kept running into the same thing: good businesses losing customers to software that almost fit. So we started building the software that does.

Our story

It started with a phone nobody could answer.

The three of us met around small businesses — the kind where the person who owns it is also the person under the sink, behind the counter, or on the pass. We kept noticing the same quiet loss: the phone ringing while both hands were full, and a customer quietly calling the next name on the list.

The tools that existed were built for companies with a front desk and an IT budget. Everyone else got the cut-down version: per-seat pricing, a workaround that became policy, and a support queue that treated their business as an edge case.

"Almost fits" is the most expensive phrase in small business software.

So Q Software builds two things. Products — Catch, and Catch for F&B — for the problems enough businesses share that they deserve a proper answer. And QSolutions, our white-glove studio, for the problems that belong to exactly one business and always will.

We stayed independent on purpose. Nobody upstream is asking us to add a seat tier or hold a feature back, which means we can say the honest thing: sometimes the right answer is the cheap one, and sometimes it's that you don't need us at all.

The founders

Three disciplines. One accountable team.

You will meet all three of us, and you will keep working with all three of us. There is no handover to a delivery team, because there is no delivery team.

First Founder

Spends the first week of any engagement in the business rather than the brief — working out where the time actually goes before anyone argues about what to build.

Second Founder

Believes software for busy people should be learnable in an afternoon and invisible by the second week. Designs for the worst shift, not the demo.

How we work

Three things we don't bend on.

01

Say the honest thing

Including when the honest thing costs us the work. If a $40 tool solves it, we will tell you that instead of quoting you.

02

You own what we build

The code, the data, the system. No hostage-taking, no export fee, no architecture designed to make leaving painful.

03

Build for the bad day

Anything can look good in a demo. We design for the double-booked Friday, the flat battery, the thing that breaks at eight.

$100k+ Revenue generated

We have run businesses of our own.

Between us, our previous ventures generated over $100,000 in revenue before Q Software existed. We have chased an invoice, covered a shift, and watched a good week disappear into a bad process — which is why we build for the bad day rather than the demo.

Come and tell us
what isn't working.

Whether it turns out to be a product of ours, something we build for you, or nothing at all — the first conversation is free and genuinely useful.
